The Equine Achievement award was given to David and Kim Baker
of Quiverheart Farm in Peebles. They were selected for this award
because of their unending generosity to the equine industry here in Adams
County. They both truly have hearts for the youth of this community
and for educating children and their parents about the care given to horses
and the enjoyment that comes from owning them. They are an asset to
our community and we greatly appreciate all they do to promote the equine
industry.
The chili cook-off is put on annually by the NLT Riders, Adams County OHC
and Scioto County OHC to generate finances to maintain and create horse
trails in Shawnee State Forest and East Fork State Park. Money
collected from the event is used to fund the clearing of the trails,
creating and maintaining them, creating and maintaining break areas on the
trails (including picnic tables, benches and horse ties) and purchasing
equipment to complete these tasks.
Special thanks to all of the judges who took on the task of selecting the
winners!
Also thanks to everyone that donated items to the silent auction. We
asked a lot of campgrounds for donations and received quite a few to
auction. So when you are camping at these places please acknowledge their
contribution. Thanks to : Bens Happy Trails (OH), Elkins Creek
Campground (OH), Gilberton's Lazy Horse Retreat (TN), East Fork Stables
(TN), Stampede Run (KY), Timber Ridge (TN), and East Cove Stables (TN).
We also want to thank The Informer - Troy Jolly,
The Defender - Carleta
Weyrich and Rachel Hamilton
from Hamilton/Hazelbaker Digital for covering the
event, the David James Band for providing the entertainment, the additional
OHC Chapters Clemont County and Brown County who came out to support the
event, and all of those who joined us to make it successfu!.
